it’s all in the detail

When I first saw this shirt at Banana Republic, I was automatically drawn to it. The thing is I love white shirts...and anything close to white, for that matter: beige, cream, off white. You name it. I have them all. Trust me, my closet tells me so.

Back in high school, I learned the trick to organize shirts by color in my closet [try it- you’ll find and remember your pieces much better], and yes, white [and anything relatively close] wins the race by a landslide [closely followed by blue and blush]. Since I’ve noticed this trend, I’ve been trying to stay away from certain colors and embrace others in order to balance out my closet.

I of course was immediately excited when I first saw this shirt, but then my logic kicked in and reminded me of the countless shirts that I own that are of a similar hue. I picked up the shirt [contrary to the little voice in my head], preparing myself to set it down immediately. But this shirt was different.

The magic of this shirt is in the detail. I love the subtle embroidery on the front, the carefully lined eyelet details along the axes, the flow and movement of the material, and the mimicked ribbed effect on the sleeves.

I loved it enough to shut out that little voice and proudly bump my ‘white’ shirt count up by one.
