New York is ever changing. New stores set up shop. New housing complexes go up. And new restaurants open their doors. The soon-to-be completed transportation hub at the World Trade Center is just one project on the endless list of new establishments being completed in the city. As soon as I got on the escalator down and was completely surrounded by the porcelain white interior, I felt as if I had stepped into the future.

So I got to thinking about how much a city changes, even over the course of just a short period of time. Up until recently, this area of Lower Manhattan was called Ground Zero. And now, where the Twin Towers once stood is already a bustling center where One World Trade stands tall.

Every time I came home from college on breaks, or even just for the weekend, I’d find something new- that the High Line Part 3 opened, that the 7 train went all the way to 11th Avenue [thank god; the walk from the 8th Avenue stop of the A/C/E to catch the Bolt Bus to Philly was dreadful], that the construction of the Hudson Yards development began.

I was imagining what the completed transportation hub will look like, and it dawned on me that I probably won't be here for its official opening. After my upcoming cross country move [t minus 35 days], I know that when I return home [probably for the holidays the first time around], there will be so much to catch up on.

That’s the thing about cities-they wait on no one. New York is always about the next up-and-coming thing.

PS- I fell in love with Self Portrait the moment I saw this post on Krystal’s blog [yes, the same Krystal from my first post]. Since then, I’ve been perusing the site, constantly eyeing the beautiful pieces. I finally snagged this jumpsuit a couple of weeks ago [thank god for 4th of July sales], and I couldn’t be happier. It was totally worth the wait!
