Normally each time the new year rolls around I’m pretty shocked. Not shocked like “Wow, I didn't know it was New Year’s” but shocked like “Wow, I can’t believe New Year's came so quickly.” Truthfully, this year, I’m not shocked. 2016 was...a lot. [A lot.] So, to me, it kind of feels like it’s about time for a new year.

I spent the first half of 2016 finishing up senior year at Penn, the place I called home for 4 years. A home with all of the amazing friends that were quite literally in the next room over, a flight of stairs away, or a quick 5 minute walk. But now, having graduated, we’re quite literally sprinkled all across the world- from SF to Cleveland to Philly to NYC down to Baltimore and even across the water in Cote D'ivoire and Cape Town. My friends and I have more than just a quick stroll outside between us rather time zones and spotty wifi connections.

The second half of 2016 was eventful too. I left Penn behind and moved across the country to embrace another adventure. I have a full time job? At a tech company? In the silicon valley? I use question marks because often I have to double take to take it all in [Seriously. I do. But I’ll save the story of how I landed here for another time.] I’ve got two roommates who really are more like sisters. [Love you, ladies.] And I’m slowly [very slowly] meeting and making new friends that I hope to carry near and dear.

And somewhere in between all that, I created this space- this sparkly corner of the interwebs. It’s been something I’ve always wanted to do, and I’m so glad I finally did. [And so glad some of you reached out and finally created your own corners as well.]

2016- It’s been a wild ride-a year of goodbyes, lots of hellos, a whole lot of transition, and loads of reflection. I only hope to take what I’ve learned this year to make 2017 that much bigger, better, and, of course, filled with even more sparkle.

Wishing you all a fabulous New Year.

Here’s to 2017!
